In the town of Pubol, a small town tucked away in the interior of the Costa Brava, is hidden a gotica-renacentista 11th-century fortification: the castle of Pubol. Converted into centre of the barony of Pubol, during the 1970s was the residence of Salvador Dali, the great love of the Emporda artists. Residence of Salvador Dali but the castle is about all known (and currently Museum) for being the home of Salvador Dali, and hides a romantic story. In 1969, Salvador Dali promised his beloved Gala the purchase of a castle, and ended up buying of Pubol after he could not get the Castle d Emporda, or the castle of Foixa. The Casa-Museo Castillo Gala Dali de Pubol, opened to the public in 1996, allows to discover a medieval building where Salvador Dali materialized his creative effort thinking about a person: Gala. What can you see? The building has three floors articulated from a high central courtyard and Strait and the facade has to be placed in the period of maximum splendor of the barony of Pubol: second half of the 14th century and early 15th century. Gothic-Renaissance style, it has undergone numerous transformations with the passage of time.
Basically you can visit the following rooms: Hall of the coats of arms, piano salon, Gala room, Gala bath, library, guest room, the attic, the dealer, dining room, output, crypt (delme), garage, garden and pool. You can alquular an apartment on the Costa Brava near Pubol. A little history the castle was already mentioned in a document of 1065 by Gaufred Bastons, which ceded its authority, along with the Cervia, the counts of Barcelona. In the mid-14th century Llers Arnau acquired it. Later was owned by the family Cervia and in 1370 is listed as property of Campllong related. With death Francisco de Corbera and Campllong, succeeded by his daughter Isabel de Corbera-Campllong, which, the Requesens-Campllong Francisco son, who became baron of Pubol and begins a long period in which the name of a Requesens endures until the beginning of the 17TH century as a result of his second marriage.
